Bulbul asks children to speak, so we built it to keep what they say on their device. Here's exactly what happens to information in the app and on this website.
Last updated 2 October 2026
The short version
- Bulbul works without an account. Learner profiles, progress and settings are stored on your device.
- When your child speaks, the try is kept in a temporary file on the device so Bulbul can listen, then deleted. Nothing your child says is uploaded, to us or anyone else.
- The app doesn't run analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution services, and never asks to track you.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check your subscription.
- This website uses no cookies and no analytics. If you join the early-access list, we keep your email address.
Who we are
Bulbul (the “app”) and this website are operated by Endpoint Technology LLC (“we”, “us”). Questions about privacy go to support@endpointtechnologyllc.com.
Information stored on your device
Bulbul keeps the following on your iPhone or iPad. It is not sent to us.
- Learner profiles: the name you type for each learner (up to six), their age band and learning preferences.
- Learning progress: lessons completed, practice history, review schedule, stickers and daily activity.
- Settings: daily goal, reading support, whether Bulbul checks spoken Urdu, and similar choices.
- Family backups: if you export a backup file from the parent area, it contains profiles and learning history (never voice recordings) and is saved wherever you choose.
Deleting a learner in the parent area removes their data. Deleting the app removes everything Bulbul stored on the device.
Your child's voice
- The microphone is used only during speaking turns, after a grown-up has allowed microphone access. You can turn access off any time in Settings → Bulbul.
- Each speaking try is written to a temporary file on the device so Bulbul can listen and, if a grown-up wants, play it back. Tries are deleted when the lesson ends or the app goes to the background, and any left over are removed the next time Bulbul opens.
- Where your device offers Apple's on-device Urdu speech recognition, Bulbul uses it to check the try on the device. The recording is not sent to us. A parent can switch this check off.
- Recordings are never uploaded, shared or used to train anything.
Your child's name
When a lesson practises “Mera naam … hai” (“My name is …”), Bulbul shows the name you typed but never speaks it: the narrator says the first part, pauses, and your child says their own name. The name stays on the device and is never sent to us or to any voice service.
Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. To check and manage subscription status, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID created on the device, your purchase and subscription records from Apple, and basic technical information such as app version, device model, operating-system version, App Store country and IP address. We use this only to unlock and verify your subscription and to help with purchase problems.
Analytics and advertising
The app does not run analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution services, does not use your device's advertising identifier, and does not ask for permission to track you. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone or iPad settings, Apple may give us aggregated statistics and crash reports about the app; these do not identify you.
This website
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- No cookies, no analytics, no ad pixels. The site doesn't track you.
- The “Try a Bulbul moment” demo. If you choose to try speaking, your browser asks for microphone access. The recording stays in your browser tab, is never uploaded and is discarded when you leave the page.
- Early-access list. If you sign up, we store your email address, the consent wording you saw and when you agreed, and, only if you answer them, the learner's age band and how you heard about Bulbul. We also note your country (from our host's network, not your IP address), the page you signed up on and any campaign tags in the link you followed. We never ask for a child's name. This is stored privately with Vercel and used only to tell you about Bulbul's early access and launch. Every email lets you unsubscribe, or email us and we'll delete your details.
Children
Bulbul is designed for families: a parent sets it up and children use it. What a child does in the app stays on the device, and settings, purchases and the parent area sit behind a parent gate. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's information has reached us, contact us and we will delete it.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. The only services involved are Apple (App Store purchases), RevenueCat (subscription status) and Vercel (website hosting and the early-access list), each under its own privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Because Bulbul keeps learning data on your device, most of it is already in your hands. For anything we or our providers hold (your early-access email, or subscription records), email support@endpointtechnologyllc.com.
Changes
If we change how Bulbul handles information, we'll update this page and its date. If a change matters for children's data, we'll explain it in the app before it takes effect.
